What is Melodrip?

Is Melodrip a shower screen?

Melodrip performs a similar water-dispersing function to a shower screen, but it is handheld rather than permanently attached to the brewer. This allows the brewer to control the height, position, and timing of water dispersion during the brew.

Does Melodrip replace a gooseneck kettle?

No. Melodrip is used together with a kettle. The kettle controls the overall water delivery, while Melodrip changes how that water reaches the coffee bed.

Does Melodrip work with coarse or fine grinds?

Melodrip can be used with different grind sizes. Because reducing agitation can change drawdown and extraction behavior, brewers may need to adjust grind size or recipe when switching from direct kettle pouring to Melodrip.

Can Melodrip be used during the bloom?

Yes. Melodrip can be used during different stages of brewing. Its height can be adjusted to control the amount of agitation during the bloom and subsequent pours.

What is Melodrip made from?

The current Melodrip uses a machined 304 stainless-steel handle, a BPA-free Eastman Tritan dish, and a borosilicate glass stirring stick.

What comes with Melodrip?

Each Melodrip includes one Melodrip pour-over tool and one borosilicate glass stirring stick.

Is Melodrip compatible with all pour-over drippers?

I am a long-time coffee enthusiast who also roasts coffee beans.

I currently use both the AeroPress (without a flow control cap) and the AeroPress XL (with a flow control cap); every morning, I use the XL to brew coffee for both myself and my wife.

Through repeated brewing sessions, I began to feel that pouring hot water from a kettle onto the coffee grounds at the bottom of the chamber created excessive turbulence due to the drop height.
I suspected this caused over-extraction of the coffee fines, resulting in an uneven extraction overall.
